Week 11 Compression Testing and Cleaning

Week 11 was a good week, Although in the grand scheme of things not much physically visible was achieved quite a bit was found out and a little bit of progress was made inside the vehicle. So lets start.

We bought off amazon a compression tester and a enderscope. As advice we was given was try and swap the injectors around and see if the problems move. So rather than that we decided to get this compression tester and ender scope to see inside the cylinders and see what we could see.

The ender scope is a good bit of kit however sadly it is just slightly to big to be able to fit into the cylinder so that was the end of that idea however rather than returning it. We are sure it is likely to come in handy at some point to help us see or even film in difficult places. So we will see how that goes for us.

Next up was to try out the compression tester this was a tricky one when we was purchasing it as we wasn’t sure what the size was so we got a set made for a truck engine which did have a bit that bit which was brilliant for us. These are the results…

1- NOT TESTED
2 – NOT TESTED
3 – 320PSI
4 – 350PSI
5 – 350PSI
6 – UNABLE TO BE REMOVED

Injector 6 was the biggest issue, If normally and the injector won’t come out is to take the nut off and turn the engine over allow the compression of the engine to blow the injector out but that wasn’t even happening and there wasn’t even blow by so there is nothing there, Which really isn’t the best of news.

The minim the engine can be is 350PSI according to the spec but the aim is 400 to 500PSI so we are a little off that.

Next thing we been told to do is check the rockers and valve clearances so that is what we will be doing after christmas.

The last job pretty much we did was cleaned off more of the glue off the wheel arch on the nearside ready to mock up the seats and table at the back. This went well with a little help from Imogen.
