For once in this project so far we are at a stage where bits are going back on this bus, Last week Jordan and Shaun took the oil sump to R.brigs (01254 230777) They do all welding and was Brilliant even when told to take your time and given a lead time of 2 weeks it was ready the following week Brilliant service and if you got welding in Manchester that needs doing they are worth a trip to Accrington to get the job done.
With the oil sump back we was told to check it for leaks which Jordan tilted it and put ATF oil over the welded area while he got bits ready to see if it leaked. Pleased to say it didn’t both side completely dry. With this now in mind it was time to attempt to get it back on with its new gasket. It can be seen why when this was last off it wasn’t put on with a gasket, As it was a total pain to get it all on and the gasket we got didn’t really help as they had folded it over for shipping making it harder to get the gasket on. However with a little messing and patience something both Shaun and Jordan don’t have the gasket with sump attached was on the bus and tightened down. We have not put oil in yet as the rest of the engine is in bits still but there really is nothing stopping us from adding the oil and having the oil ready to go. However with the top still open it is possible stuff might go down to the sump with there being no oil it has a chance to dry out if anything does go down.

The solar system we are still playing with to get it to work the way we want it but in short we think it might be a lack of panels able to deliver the voltage and amps needed to charge the system, More research is required.
The biggest progress of the day was putting parts back onto the head of the engine.

We will explain the image above. Starting with Bottom Left where the hose is. This is the thermostat housing this was taken off with a new o ring and gasket as well as a clean out it was all put back on and tightened down, all completed.
Half way up on the left is the air intake, this as you can see it has a few bolts missing not sure where these went but we can get more its no problem as we had to get at least 1 due to it snapping which we removed last week. So with a new gasket this was put back on. It needs 3 gaskets to put this back on, one for the main part then 2 for the intake pipe.
The other part that was added back on was the Fuel filter hanger which is in the bottom Right of the picture this doesn’t need any gaskets as it is just a bracket for the filter.
All this made us happy as it was a good progress towards having this back together.
