After getting X581MBH and bringing it home only 300miles from where we bought the bus. It was clear there might be a few issues with the bus but nothing major.
Before we bought the bus and made an offer we checked out the MOT history and showed there was a oil leak but wasn’t major. along with a kingpin that has slight play but again nothing to shout about.
The oil leak was something we was rather interested in however as it was visible from where we picked the bus up from with a clear oil puddle on the ground from where it had been parked since the photo we seen was taken. It wasn’t a massive puddle so took it as it wasn’t a bad leak along with it had clearly passed its MOT with such a oil leak.
So we set off got fuel and heading back up. We decided to stop at the services on the way back not too long after we got on the motorway but the bus had warmed up from driving and was going strong but we wanted to get a drink and check the levels of the bus. This is where the oil leak became very clear. As just after a short stop in the services now the oil was hot and thin running around the system quite a bit of it was coming out. A level check at this time showed it still to be in the range of a good oil level.
So we carried on we stopped again about 150miles up the M6 where again we stopped for us and to check the levels it was at this point where we got a little concerned about how much oil was in the engine as it was much lower than before. After a little hunt around the services we was robbed for Oil with the price being stupidly expensive. This gave us enough but we decided up the road just off the motorway there was a Halfords where oil would be cheaper. So we took a little detour to grab some extra oil for the trip back. We topped up the oil again to the max and set off back.
I believe we stopped one last time which we topped the oil up and set off on the home straight and apart from myself in the car having to keep stopping to clean my windscreen due to following the bus with the oil splashing on the windscreen. So I had to keep playing catch up as Shaun who was driving the bus it was decided it was pointless him keep stopping for me to clean the windscreen so he carried on. We got close to home and I overtook Shaun to sort the yard out ready for his arrival. I thought we had quite a head start on him at the yard to enable me to film him arriving however by the time that I got to the yard opened the gate etc I walked to the front to hear him behind me already in the yard.
Other than that it was a good run and nothing much wrong with the bus to minor things which we are working on fixing.
