Well the time has come to admit a little bit of defeat. This is in no way the end of the dart or the project if anything this is a new beginning and a new lease of life for our old dart.
After many engine issues and a growing list of jobs which every month passes gets more and more urgent as the weather takes hold of the vehicle.
We are very excited to start the work which has been thought of pretty much over night and been approved by the group and the members this is the first time the public will be told about this radical plan.
Starting on Monday the 2nd of September 2024, The work will begin this is going to feel so much like a step backwards as Step 1 in our radical plan is to strip the interior out so the mess will be sorted and removed where needed. Once completed the poles all will be removed, followed by the seats stripping the interior of everything.
Then the next victim to the plans is the floor and not just the top the wood to it is going to be stripped completely to chassis reveling the chassis. with all this out it will enable us to fully do the chassis and a few jobs will be easy to do which has been on the cards for a while, Starting with the water pipes running to the demisters and the Power steering pipes both are rotten and ruined. Other bits that we have noted are badly rotten are all 3 air tanks at the rear and air pipes as there is a mixture of metal and plastic.
The floor being out will make all this so much easier to do. Once all the chassis is ready the flooring will be replaced with brand new and seats and poles returned after being restored to the brand new style.
While all this is being done the engine and gearbox will be repaired, Brakes adjusted etc and in 2 years aprox we hope to roll the loved 314 Dart out to the public road in this will be very rewarding at the end giving us hopefully a very clean and reliable vehicle to attend shows with and do other bit for the community.
